FRANK

meet Frank, your new social feed streaming friend

Frank Is a Real Show-off

  1. Frank is good friends with SimplePie, allowing him to stream RSS and Atom feeds with ease. Feeds from Wordpress, Twitter, Flickr, Vimeo, YouTube, and more. If your site or a service you use has a feed, Frank will grab it and display it in style. For more details, see "Displaying Feeds with Frank".
  2. Frank gets the word out. For the announcement that's more important than a flash in the stream, Frank uses a custom Newsflash script, powered by jQuery. A newflash is a small alert that slides in at the top of the page. If a user chooses to close it, it won't come back until you make another newsflash. Thanks to jQuery, the newsflash has a time delay and easily changed transition effects. Creating a newsflash alert is easy, and we've got a video to prove it. See "Creating a Newsflash"
  3. Frank wears fancy clothes. Frank has custom fonts enabled through the use of Cufon, a Javascript solution for rendering fonts on the fly. The default font is Hit The Road, but with Cufon it's easy to use any typeface you like without having to resort to flash or annoying images.
  4. Frank can throw multiple feeds into one stream. Each item in the stream is automatically marked with an icon and labled to easily identify the service or site the item came from. Use Frank as a lifestream, a way to track things happening on other social networks, or to digest all your favorite content into one place. To see what Frank can do, see "Frank in Action".
  5. Frank keeps his office tidy. Frank can paginate the items in his stream with ease. You can easily set and change the default number of items per page, and Frank even gives the user the option to dynamically change the number of items displayed at a time. While Frank is most happy streaming his feeds, he also has a secondary page layout (like this one) for content pages, contact forms, long winded rants, and the like.
